Kelly Asks Voters: "What should Congress Fix First?"
With the election just days away, Kelly Kirschner put on a baseball uniform and spent the afternoon at a Halloween event on St. Pete’s Central Avenue. He asked passersby, many of them young families, one question: when the new Congress starts work in January 2027, what should it fix first?
The uniform fit. As a Georgetown Hoya, Kelly helped manage the university’s basketball team, and he took to heart the Jesuit call to be a man for others. On this day, that meant doing what a representative should do first: listening.
Here’s what people told him:
- Make it better for the next generation. “We need to come together as adults and figure this thing out.”
- Make daily life affordable again: housing, gas, groceries, and lower interest rates.
- Fix insurance, both property and health.
- Ease the property tax burden.
- Put more power back in the hands of the people.
- Invest in education.
- Protect women’s rights. One father said it’s his biggest concern because he’s raising a daughter.
- A young dad summed it up: “We work hard. We always will work hard, especially as we have a little one now. So we want him to have a bright future.”
- And one young voter had a request of his own: get rid of the presidential fitness test. Duly noted.
These are the problems Kelly is running to fix. He’s listening, and he’s ready to act.
Vote for Kelly Kirschner by November 3 so he can take your voice to Washington.
